Bloomington Lake

I tend to wait until the last minute for holiday weekends to reserve campsites. So for 4th of July weekend I booked the only campground left, Willow Flat Campground in southeast Idaho. It was a quick drive up the mountain. The campground was filled with dirt bikes, ATV's and Razors with trails everywhere. Our campground was right on the river. We set up camp and dropped a line. Within minutes we caught the first Rainbow Trout, and then another and another. I lost count at 15.

I took my dog for a walk the morning we were packing up to leave and found the most incredible trail. The trail was lush with every flower color I could think of and waterfalls. At the end of the trail I came across the sign about Glacier Lake. So I decided I had to come back and find this lake.

The hike was steep. The hike was hard. But the hike was worth it, the hardest climbs always are. Going into this hike it is important to be prepared with water and snacks. It was very rocky in places and on an incline. Be prepared and take your time.

The top was beautiful but we were not quite to our destination yet. The hike flattened out some as we hiked across the top of the ridge. With a mile left most of the hike was downhill.

I was excited to reach the peak but the end was even more spectacular. Bloomington Lake was incredible. The water was clear, I could see the Rainbow Trout swimming around. There was a rope swing and a cliff jump. This hidden gem is a must in Idaho.
