Riviera Maya 2021

This trip. This was a monumental trip for the five us. I cannot tell how much it meant to me. I mean just look at those four. Adventuring with these four is my favorite.

Since my divorce the boys and I have not taken a big trip. We have done lots of small trips to visit family or camping but nothing big. So I found an all-inclusive trip on the beach in Mexico and booked through Costco. Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort was amazing and I was super happy with it.The

I didn't tell the boys much going into the trip. I wanted them to be surprised and see their reactions. Kids are funny, walking into the lobby you would think they walked into a palace. It was after midnight when we got to the hotel and we were exhausted. We crashed as soon as we got in the room.

As soon as I woke up I ran to the window to see Mexico. This was my view.

It is safe to say Peyton was in heaven. He was obsessed with finding a coconut all week. We came across iguanas, coati, and racoons.

The hotel had four different pool options and a jacuzzi. This pool was definitely our favorite. It had a slide and cliff jump at the top. Every day they had fun activities for people to participate in. Peyton won the soccer shooting contest even with a sprained ankle.

The food was endless. We had breakfast and lunch buffet options every day. For dinner, we visited the Italian, Mexican, and Seafood restaurants. There was also 24 hour room service which we decided to do one night and watch the Mexico v. USA soccer game.

There was oversized chess games at a few of the pools. This one was just outside the coffee shop that we were regulars at. The boys would run down their for an evening coffee, every night.

We were able to utilize the hotel paddle boards and kayaks.

We loved this little bar on the beach. Let me be first to admit I got the boys hooked on their unlimited virgin Pina Coladas, Bahama Mama's, and Strawberry Daiquiri's.

I really wanted this vacation to be relaxing and not overbook where we came back more exhausted then we left. Right next to the hotel was a Marina and Dolphin experience. We booked a snorkel tour and we had a blast. We saw all kinds of fish and sting rays.

I loved the uninterrupted time with my boys especially the oldest. The older they get the further away the feel. He spent time with me and actually chose to. I couldn't get enough.

The hotel had tennis courts on the roof. We checked it out and I decided tennis is definitely not our strong suit. They also had a teen club which the boys all went to each night. It was complete with pool table, ping pong, and video games.

We had some rain each day but we made sure to maximize every minute of sun we got.

We never got sick of the views. We had this view on one of our walks back from dinner.

Our last day we signed up for the bike tour to Puerto Morales. The boys did great and we got to see a little more of the city. I was able to get in a little shopping while we were there also.

It was such an incredible week. I spend a lot of time reading and reflecting. Time that I needed for myself and with my boys. I came back refreshed and with a full heart.

We were sad to leave especially at 3 a.m. but we can't wait to go back!
