There is a lot to discuss regarding this pillar, which deeply connects with the core of who I am. To begin, I should delve into the background of how and why this pillar or phrase came to be. Essentially, this phrase is central to the development of The Light Ranch.
The changes in the world are evident to all of us, affecting our perceptions and emotions. Everywhere we turn, we encounter negativity. Individuals are not only in conflict with each other but also grappling with internal struggles. Various platforms are inundated with harmful and malicious remarks. This situation often leads us to question the existence of kindness or any form of goodness left in the world.
Deep down, I have a strong belief in the presence of goodness in our surroundings. However, frequently, we allow the darkness to overshadow us, causing us to dim our light. We tend to surrender and cease our efforts in the struggle. When The Light Ranch began taking shape, I understood the importance of persisting in the battle, not just for our personal healing but also to prevent the triumph of darkness. This is not only essential to the core of who I am but part of the foundation of my faith.
As I looked around, I noticed the recurring mention of the word "light". The verse John 1:5 was pivotal for the ranch: "The darkness had not overcome it." His light can shine through me. Regardless of the darkness I have faced, or the darkness the world faces, "the darkness has NOT overcome it." It was then that He communicated to me, Heidi, BE THE LIGHT. We can't sit back until we see change or good in the world. We have to create it. We have to be it. Only then will we see an impact on the world in which we live.
My desire is not only to witness it in the world and in others, but also to embody it myself. As we assist others on their healing journey, the collective power of multiple lights shining together will triumph over darkness. The concept is clear. One candle doesn't give much light but fill a room with candles and there is no more darkness.
Recognizing it as a fundamental aspect to include in the foundation, I pondered ways to share this positivity. I've come across hoodies featuring labels like "anxious" or "OCD," terms that frequently trouble us. These are not words originating from our Creator; they tend to define us rather than reflect our true essence. It dawned on me that each of us possesses a defining word, one that embodies our authentic selves. This word may at times challenge us to believe in and conquer it within our own narrative.
You can give someone or yourself a hoodie with a personalized word on the sleeve to serve as a constant reminder of their true identity. Psalm 139:13-14 states, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." This verse rings true; we were each created to be just who we are. There is only ONE of you. ONE for me. If you think of how many people are in this world, the magnitude of that is miraculous.
While creating hoodies for some extraordinary women who have made a significant impact on my life, I reflected on their amazing qualities and the words that best describe them. Their presence has truly blessed me. This led me to ponder on my own word - the reminder I needed for myself. The answer came to me crystal clear: "enough." For the longest time, I've concealed my pain and self-doubt from the world, guarding my vulnerabilities as if they were a weakness. Yet, our vulnerabilities are an integral part of our authentic selves. No one is immune to pain and insecurities. God has shown me that through Him, I can overcome them. And not only that He has sent an army to me to hold me up in my darkest or weakest moments.
For years, I have struggled with feelings of inadequacy that stem from a history of verbal abuse, rape, mental abuse, some physical abuse, and abandonment. Despite managing a household as a single mother, I constantly feel that my own capabilities and strength are insufficient. I have come to believe that I am not deserving of the attention or respect from men that I desire, and that if I were stronger, I could have avoided the difficult situations I found myself in. The most damaging misconception of all is the belief that if I did more, God would love me more. This, however, is far from the truth.
We should always remember the immense power of this LIGHT. It was this LIGHT that, even on the darkest days, the veil was torn from top to bottom and made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. This LIGHT ensured that the tomb was left empty. The price has been paid. His grace is freely given. His love knows no bounds. Regardless of my actions, I am always sufficient for Him. On my own, I can never do enough, but with Christ as the focal point of my life, He bears what I cannot. Through our surrender, He will carry it for each of us.
My goal when welcoming individuals to The Light Ranch is for them to understand that God will bring healing to their suffering because He is aware of everything they are going through. Each person was made with a specific purpose, and now is the moment to allow their inner light to radiate once more. This aligns with the message in Luke 12:7, "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than sparrows."
